The Project
Stanek Family Farm will establish a high-density tall spindle apple orchard, which will serve as a family-based, U-pick orchard, as well as supply organic fruit to the entire Twin Ports area.
Environmental Impact
Stanek Family Farm will operate a high-density system on a small footprint while sourcing local organic inputs such as wood chips, hay, food waste, leaves, and manure to build and improve soil fertility over time. These practices support fungal-dominated soils that benefit fruit tree health and productivity. Carbon-based mulches and drip irrigation will reduce evaporation, conserve water, and maintain consistent soil moisture, strengthening long-term soil health and sustainability.
With production on such a small footprint we believe we will be able to grow our fruit in a biologically appropriate way with only organic inputs sourced locally. We believe that ‘an apple a day can keep the doctor away’…if it’s grown the right way!”
