The Project
Sörestad Farm will build a permanent DNR-approved deer fence around its gardens, protecting its vegetable garden and hoop house, chickens, established orchard, new fruit trees, and new native trees.
Environmental Impact
Keeping the deer and other critters away from the garden will allow Sörestad Farm to produce more fruits and vegetables more reliably for local sale and consumption. The farm focuses on soil health as a top priority, using compost, cover crops, crop rotation, and mulching to feed the soil, deter pests and disease, and ensure crop success.
“Having a permanent deer fence will be absolutely instrumental in allowing us to provide more quality, local food for our community – which is why we exist! ”
– Julie Allen, owner
