The Project
Northern Harvest Farm will upgrade its potato harvesting equipment to meet growing demand. A new harvester will increase harvesting capacity, improve efficiency, reduce the physical strain on the farm crew, and provide greater reliability with less downtime for repairs.
Environmental Impact
Northern Harvest promotes organic and regenerative agriculture through diverse crop rotations, cover cropping, and biological inputs that build healthy soil, reduce erosion, and improve water infiltration. Potatoes and other storage crops are integrated into rotations that support nutrient cycling, soil health, and long-term farm resilience. Investing in a reliable potato harvester enables timely harvests, reduces soil compaction and crop loss, and strengthens the farm’s ability to manage land, water, and air sustainably while supporting a resilient local food system.
“This investment will support the long-term viability of our farm by enabling sustained production, improving labor conditions, and protecting the significant resources invested in each crop. It positions our business to reliably supply locally grown food to our community for years to come.”
