Whole Foods Co-op is proud to support local organizations dedicated to our community. Our GIVE! program makes it simple for shoppers to make positive change – by rounding up their change – as they check out at our registers.

Each month, a different nonprofit or cause is featured in our round-up program. Each year, nine nonprofits are selected by Co-op Owners and staff to be the round-up recipient for a month. Each nonprofit receives half of the shopper donations collected during their designated month. The other half will fund the Co-op’s Grow Local Food Fund, a grant program that builds capacity in our local food system.

The application for the 2026 GIVE! Community Support Program is now open! Non-sectarian, non-partisan 501(c)(3) nonprofits are eligible to apply. Apply by July 31.

Program Details

Recipients will be nonprofits who serve the communities in or surrounding Duluth, MN or Superior, WI, or support the regional farming or food production economy. The nonprofit’s efforts must also align with the GIVE! Community Support Program’s priority areas: Environmental Stewardship; Equity & Diversity; Food Access*; Local Food Economy.

In addition, new to the 2026 funding cycle, only applications will be considered for nonprofits who have not been a GIVE! recipient in the past two years (2024, 2025). With dozens of amazing nonprofits in the community, this stipulation has been made to create access to this program for more nonprofits across our community.

If you are a for-profit business who supports the regional farming or food production economy, please consider applying for the Grow Local Food Fund grant.

*The GIVE! Community Support Program prioritizes creating access to food for people. While we acknowledge and value food access for all living creatures, the focus of this priority area is on nourishing our human neighbors.

Environmental Stewardship

An abstract illustration of a lime with two leaves in different shades of green, inspired by the fresh produce at Whole Foods Coop Duluth. The lime is shown as a simple oval shape with a small star-like detail at its base, and the minimalist design of the leaves adds to the clean and modern look of the image.

Equity + Diversity

Illustration of a halved orange slice next to a full slice of lemon. The orange slice is colored in shades of orange, while the lemon slice is bright yellow. Two small orange droplets are depicted above the orange slice, reminiscent of the vibrant produce found at Whole Foods Coop Duluth.

Food Access

Two yellow pea pods, each with three green peas visible inside, are shown. One pod is smaller and tilted to the left, while the larger pod is upright. Both pods have small green leaves at their tops. The simple, minimalist design embodies the fresh appeal of Whole Foods Coop Duluth.

Local Food Economy

Democracy is one of Whole Foods Co-op’s Cooeperative Principles. In this light, GIVE! recipients are determined through a multi-step democratic process.

Applications will be reviewed for eligibility based on nonprofit status and alignment with the GIVE! Community Support Program’s priority areas.

Whole Foods Co-op staff will then vote on which nonprofits will proceed to the Owner ballot.

These remaining nonprofits are presented on the Owner ballot, and all Whole Foods Co-op Owners have the opportunity to vote to determine the final list of recipients.
