Early American Hot Bread
Ingredients
- ¾ C whole wheat pastry flour
- 2/3 C corn meal
- ½ t salt
- 2 t scant baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 C milk
- 2 T maple syrup
- 3 T melted butter (melt it in your pan or skillet)
Instructions
- Combine flour, corn meal, salt, and baking powder. Beat together egg, milk, maple syrup, and butter.
- Quickly mix the dry and liquid ingre- dients and pour into buttered 8” pan or skillet. Bake at 425°F for 20 minutes.
