We are wholely owned, and governed, by our Membership. The Membership elects a Board of Directors to determine the how the cooperative is run. WFC is a policy run cooperative. The Board of Directors establishes general policies which define the role and responsibilities of the hired General Manager who conducts the day to day operations. As a Member, the Whole Foods Co-op is your store, and you have a voice in its direction, either through your vote, serving on committees and/or on the Board as an elected director.

The Board of Directors is elected from Membership and by the Membership. The candidate profiles are found here (.doc file). If you are interested in running for the Board of Directors, you can download an application here (.doc file) and turn it in to the current Board.
The Board meets monthly on the 4th Monday beginning at 5:30 PM subject to change due to holidays and co-op events.
The Board’s job includes:
- Provide a link between WFC and its Owners
- Ensure the long-term financial health and sustainability of WFC, and
- Ensure the performance of the General Manager with respect to compliance with the Board’s policies, WFC’s Articles and Bylaws, applicable federal, state and local regulations, and WFC’s Mission and Core Values.
Meetings of the Board of Directors, except for closed sessions, are open to WFC Members. If you have an item for discussion at a Board meeting, please submit your item in writing (by email to wfcbod@wholefoods.coop or by mail or delivered to Board of Directors, Attention: Agenda, Whole Foods Co-op, 610 East 4th Street, Duluth, MN 55805) by the first Friday of the month in which you request the Board’s consideration. Such agenda items will be subject to time constraints at the Board meeting.
